Ronald Gene Sanford

February 22, 1950 ~ June 24, 2008


 

Ronald Gene Sanford entered this life February 22, 1950 to Bobby Doyle and Mary Maxine (Tramel) Sanford in Salina, Oklahoma.  He entered into rest June 24, 2008 at his home in Sulphur, Oklahoma at the age of 58 years. 

Ron graduated from Stigler High School and attended Murray State College in Tishomingo, Oklahoma and Tonkawa Junior College.  He later served in the United States Navy on the USS Mullunix Destroyer.  He and Elaine Salmon were married April 6, 1979 at Lake Murray Chapel and raised two sons, Bradley and Michael.  Ron was personally known as “The Candy Man”, was the original Santa at the Ardmore First Christmas Parade, and cooked and catered for many organizations including the FFA, Key Club, Highway Patrol, family gatherings, and weddings.  He was an honorary member of the Highway Patrol.  

He is survived by his wife, Elaine Sanford of Sulphur, Oklahoma; parents, Bob and Mary Sanford of Sulphur, Oklahoma; two sons, Bradley Wayne Sanford and wife, Teresa, of Sulphur, Oklahoma and Michael Scott Sanford and wife, Terra, of Dougherty, Oklahoma; two brothers, Bobby Doyle Sanford II of Oklahoma City and Michael Duane Sanford of Dallas, Texas; four grandchildren, Braxtyn Layne Sanford and Brylie Jayde Sanford both of Sulphur, Oklahoma, and Landen Dace Sanford and Jaycee Paige Sanford both of Dougherty, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Mark Salmon and wife, Genie, of Lexington, Oklahoma; sister-in-law, Betty Jo Salmon of Springfield, Missouri; two nephews, Bobby Doyle Sanford III of Oklahoma City and William Kylie Salmon of Moore, Oklahoma.
