Leta J. Carter entered this life
January 17, 1929 to Hubert and Artie (Heiple) Oakley in Davis,
Oklahoma. She entered into rest July 26, 2008 in Sulphur, Oklahoma at
the age of 79 years.
Leta grew up in Davis,
Oklahoma and graduated from Davis High School. She and William Theodore
‘Dub’ Carter, Jr. were married June 23, 1947 and made their home in
Madill, Ardmore, Oklahoma City and Norman, Oklahoma until moving to
Denver, Colorado in 1978. She moved back to Davis in 1981. She enjoyed
traveling, especially flying, arts and crafts, and playing cards. She
loved people and her family. She has been a member of the United
Methodist Church of Davis all of her life.
She was preceded in
death by her husband, Dub Carter; parents, Hubert and Artie Oakley; son,
William Theodore ‘Terry’ Carter III; very special son-in-law, Walter Ray
‘Woody’ Wood; brother, Harold Oakley; sister, Glenda Ann Oakley; and
great grandchild, Dante Wood.
She is survived by son,
Scott Carter and wife, Kay, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Joy
Carter Reynolds of Gillette, Wyoming; daughter-in-law, Belinda Carter of
Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren, Kendra Hatzenbuhler, Kyle Wood,
William Theodore “Will” Carter IV; and four great grandchildren, Danea
Wood, Tristin, Kyla, P.J. Hatzenbuhler. |
